Hearing the voice of God

Hi there to everyone who visits here,

As I launch this blog for the first time, I have decided to start off with what I believe is the single most important thing for us who dwell on this earth, and that is to be able to hear the voice of the Lord.

Today I will be dealing with the first most important thing when it comes to hearing from God.
  1. Guard your heart
Proverbs 4:23 says, "Keep (guard) your heart with all diligence; for out of it flow the issues of life".
When talking about our heart, I don't mean the physical organ in your chest that pumps blood around your body. I mean the interlocking part of your spirit and soul which is the real you on the inside. Thoughts we think in our minds usually become words we speak out of our mouths and words are really what affect us in either a positive or a negative way. Our words affect the outcome of our lives, but most importantly, the words we speak affect our heart which will affect the sensitivity of our hearts to hear the voice of God.
If we don't guard our hearts by being careful how we react to things that happen to us, we will begin to speak things out that will cause us to develop a hardened heart. A hardened heart develops over time and then sooner or later, you have some symptoms that point towards a hardened heart.

Here are some symptoms you might be having at the moment.

* Unexplainable anger
* Constant complaining
* Not being able to hear from God.
* Stress
* Emotional frustations

The remedy for a hardened heart is to firstly come to realise that you have this condition.
Secondly, you need to go and speak to the Lord about it and He will probably lead you in a time of confession and repentance. Confessing the problem is an acknowledgement that you have a problem in the first place and then repentance follows where you make a quality decision to forgive people and also deal with your reaction to the circumstances that occured in your life.

Also, part of guarding your heart are the following.

Don't keep on talking about the things that people have done to you.

This is the best way of keeping the issue alive. Some people who we have met over the years are people who have issues. We have seen that these same people have had these same issues for a long time, and they just cannot stop talking about it all the time. They dig it up time after time and never are able to move on. If we make a decision to forgive, forget and then to stop talking about it, it won't be long before the issue will die on it's own.

Stay in relationship to other people

Releationships are important in our lives. Especially those who God has given to us who can speak into our lives. They are there for a reason. People who just agree with everything we say and never challenge where we are at, are not what I call really close to us. We need to listen to those close to us in order to guard our hearts. They help us to see the "blind spots" in our lives.

Stay in the word of God.

The word of God is like a mirror. We look into this mirror and we see who we really are.
The bible says that the word of God is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of our hearts. So, in my opinon, the word of God has the ability to help us with heart issues. It is all about the heart when it comes to our walk with God. He is interested with what is in our hearts.

God is a God of the heart and He wants our hearts more than anything else...

Perhaps you are at a place where you have been struggling to hear from the Lord. Perhaps you should take the time to just go to Him and ask Him to reveal to you if you have a hardened heart and to help you to deal with the circumstances that happened to bring you to that place so that you can be able to hear Him again.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Next time.......
